2017 - The first encounter
Jessica and Julius met on a "Night Walk" event in Masaka. Their encounter with the homeless children left a lasting impression – and laid the foundation for a close German-Ugandan partnership.
2018 - Idea and founding of the association
During the Ugandan rainy season, Jessica and Caro, together with Julius, are developing the statutes for the future support association. At the same time, Julius is officially registering the Lights Masaka Foundation in Uganda.
2019 - Entry in the register of associations
The Friends of Lights e.V. association is officially founded in Germany and recognized as a non-profit organization. Alessia takes on the role of treasurer. The first fundraising events and club weekends follow.
2020 to 2023 – Growing and Learning
Lights e.V. continues to revise its structures, develop a mission statement , and organize fundraising events such as flea markets and Christmas markets in Freiburg and the surrounding area. Club weekends and meetings also strengthen team collaboration.
At the same time, cooperation with the Ugandan team is intensified and friendships are deepened.
Some club members visit the Lights Masaka Foundation in Uganda.
2025 - A new board directors
Jessi, Lisa and Rebekka form the new board of Lights e.V. They meet regularly as a trio and with other club members to strengthen cooperation and achieve common goals.
2025 - three Lights e.V. members in Uganda
Jessi, Mascha and Lisa are volunteering directly in Uganda for months. Collaboration with the Ugandan team is intensified. Lights e.V. is being restructured. The focus is still on supporting the Lights Masaka Foundation.
