One-time donation

One-time donation for the establishment of the project"Welding Training Center" (2026–2027)

Together with the Lights Masaka Foundation in Uganda, we are planning to establish a training center for welding and metalworking for street youth in Masaka.
The project is being developed as part of a grant application to the Schmitz Foundations’ Development Cooperation Small Projects Fund, supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The staff of the Lights Masaka Foundation aim to help disadvantaged youth escape homelessness and poverty through vocational training, psychosocial support, and practical prospects for the future.
In order for the grant to be approved, our support association must contribute at least 1,000 euros (10% of the project costs of 10,000 euros) from its own funds. For this, we need your support!

With a financial donation, you can help:
establish a training workshop in Masaka, Uganda,
purchase welding equipment and safety gear,
open up (vocational) opportunities for street youth,
and create long-term, self-sustaining income opportunities.
The training center will be led by Lawrence—a former street youth who was able to complete training as a welder thanks to support—and the social workers of the Lights Masaka Foundation

After a one-year project period, the training center is expected to become increasingly self-sustaining in the long term through the manufacture and sale of metal products such as doors, windows, and security grilles, thereby creating sustainable opportunities for future generations of young people.
Thank you very much for your support!

We are happy to provide further information about the planned project and the grant application upon request. We will keep you informed about the project’s progress on our website under “News” and via our newsletter.

Regular donation for education, housing and health

A regular donation helps the Lights Masaka Foundation and Lights e.V. plan for the long term. Due to rising living costs in Uganda, we are currently and continuously seeking additional regular donations for education, housing, and healthcare. Lights e.V. aims to support the Lights Masaka Foundation with a minimum of €15,000 in total for education, housing, and healthcare for 2026 (and beyond).
Donate regularly and enable the motivated Ugandan team to implement fundamental children's rights.

Terms and Conditions

As a non-profit association (e.V.), we are happy to issue a donation receipt upon request. For donations of up to €300 per year, proof of payment is generally sufficient.

You may cancel your recurring donation at any time without providing a reason. A brief email to lights.uganda@gmail.com is sufficient.

The cancellation takes effect on the next possible due date.

As a regular donor, you will receive information about the progress and impact of the Lights Masaka Foundation in Uganda through our annual reports.

You can find further information about the organization and news on our website and social media.

Your personal data will be used exclusively for processing your donation, issuing donation receipts, and communicating with you.

Your data will not be shared with third parties. You may revoke your consent to the use of your data at any time.

Does your employer support donations via Benevity?
Lights e.V. is registered on the platform.

What is Benevity?
Benevity is a platform through which companies support the social engagement of their employees —
for example through donation matching or corporate giving budgets.

Why is Lights e.V. listed on Benevity?
Because collective responsibility, transparency, and structural support are core values of our work.

How it works (3 steps):

  1. Check whether your employer uses Benevity

  2. Search for Lights e.V. on the platform

  3. Make a donation — your contribution is often matched, doubled, or topped up by your employer

Lights e.V. (over 50 regular donors) provides support in particular for education, housing, and healthcare for 22 children and young people at the Lights Masaka Foundation (as of 2025).

In addition, there are regular contributions for emergency aid and salaries.

Supporting sustainability projects is also particularly important to us in order to strengthen the financial independence of the Lights Masaka Foundation.

THANK YOU!

With your donation, you are supporting programs to implement basic children's rights through a motivated Ugandan team. This gives (formerly) homeless children and young people the chance to live a self-determined life – free from fear, exploitation, and hopelessness.
