Our mission statement

As Lights e.V. we are motivated to contribute to more social justice in the world.

As a support association, we see it as our task to collect donations for the LIGHTS-MASAKA FOUNDATION.

We see this as an opportunity to redistribute funds to benefit children and young people whose rights are to be implemented. Our vision is to provide local project managers with the financial resources and institutional framework to ensure that children and young people can realize their rights.

Partnership and friendly communication as well as personal contact with our Ugandan employees are at the heart of our collaboration.

Together, we are pursuing the strategy of growing the project through tailored investments so that more and more children and young people can be reached. To this end, we, as a German-Ugandan team, are making self-financing investments. This strengthens the project's independence. Profits are channeled into the implementation of children's rights.

As Lights eV, we rely on the following values and principles:

We intend to work transparently with our donors, project managers, and the children and young people in the project and on the street. We also attach particular importance to the protection of minors' personal data, including their right to their own image. These two values are in conflict. We are aware of this and take it into account in our considerations.

We take time and space for critical reflection: Especially in decision-making situations, we consider our own and societal racism, the danger of white saviorism, colonial continuities in North-South cooperation, gender roles, and animal welfare.
