Strengthening social work and children's rights in Uganda

One-time donation

Support for holiday care and holiday projects (december 2025 – february 2026)

Three members of Lights e.V. are currently in Uganda for several months to improve internal processes together with the Ugandan team, to gain an even deeper understanding of the organization on the ground, and to accompany the children and young people at the Emma Dow Home and in foster families in their daily lives.
During the long holiday months from December to February, however, ongoing costs have increased significantly. While basic needs are covered, the available funds are not sufficient for more varied nutrition, recreational activities, small outings, or creative and hands-on projects.
At the moment, both we as three Lights e.V. members and the Ugandan project leaders are covering many of these additional expenses privately.
Your donation goes directly and exclusively towards necessary expenses benefiting the Lights children and young people, as well as project-related costs during the holiday period, such as:
Materials for creative- and educational projects
Transportation and entrance fees for small outings (e.g., to Lake Nabugabo or the swimming pool)
Extra food items for more varied meals

We will keep you updated on how the donated funds are used through our Instagram channel and regular newsletters.

Every contribution – big or small – helps make the holiday period more enriching and enjoyable for over 90 children and young people, while supporting their right to leisure and recreation. Thank you so much for your support!(For information on regular donations, see below.)

One-time donation for rapid assistance and innovative projects

With your one-time donation, you will help cover unforeseen expenses and meet urgent needs—for example, medical treatment, emergency shelter, or additional food.
At the same time, you will enable innovative projects such as greening the children's home grounds or urgently needed renovations.
For 2026, Lights e.V. has set itself the goal of collecting one-time donations for the Lights Masaka Foundation with at least €10,000.
For flexible aid that goes where it is most urgently needed.

Regular donation for education, housing and health

A regular donation helps the Lights Masaka Foundation and Lights e.V. plan for the long term. Due to rising living costs in Uganda, we are currently and continuously seeking additional regular donations for education, housing, and healthcare. Lights e.V. aims to support the Lights Masaka Foundation with a minimum of €15,000 in total for education, housing, and healthcare for 2026 (and beyond).
Donate regularly and enable the motivated Ugandan team to implement fundamental children's rights.
(See below for terms and conditions.)

Lights e.V. (over 50 regular donors) provides support in particular for education, housing, and healthcare for 22 children and young people at the Lights Masaka Foundation (as of 2025).

In addition, there are regular contributions for emergency aid and salaries.

Supporting sustainability projects is also particularly important to us in order to strengthen the financial independence of the Lights Masaka Foundation.

THANK YOU!

With your donation, you are supporting programs to implement basic children's rights through a motivated Ugandan team. This gives (formerly) homeless children and young people the chance to live a self-determined life – free from fear, exploitation, and hopelessness.
